In 2010, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan applied as solo candidates for the seventh series of The X Factor, but failed to qualify for the "Boys" category. After suggestion by guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, they were put together to form a five-piece boy band, thus qualifying for the "Groups" category. How lucky they are?!

One Direction is the one of popular boyband in the world, interesting girls? In January 2011, One Direction signed a £2 million record contract with Cowell's company Syco Records. Styles stated his excitement: "We wanted to win and coming third was a big disappointment. So to find out we were signed was incredible. Simon Cowell was telling you your life was about to change! It was weird. Coming from our first audition to being signed by Syco is a huge journey".

-Harry Styles!!! The cutest and the youngest, was born on 1 February 1994, his curly hair is perfect and every girls wanna touch it!

-Louis Tomlinson (24 December 1991), the oldest from South Yorkshire, Tomlinson revealed that landing the lead role of Danny Zuko in a high school musical production of Grease was his motivation for auditioning for The X Factor.
